Job Duties and Responsibilities
Chief of Staff Veterinarian job responsibilities include:
- Examine, diagnose and treat small animals; prescribe and administer animal medications; take cell and tissue samples and perform diagnostic tests; perform surgery
- Create a culture of inclusion and acceptance for patients and staff
- Advocate for animal wellness using preventative care and products
- Collaborative leadership with the hospital administrator
- Represent hospital service offerings and participate in The Pet Vet-sponsored activities to reach the local community
- Maintain licenses, certifications and association memberships
- Meet annual continuing education requirements
- Adhere to standard operating policies and procedures (corporate, state and federal)
Qualifications
Chief of Staff Veterinarian required skills & qualifications include:
- D.V.M. degree and completion of state licensing requirements (in good standing)
- Strong communicator and mentor with solid conflict resolution skills
- Patient; responsive to staff and clients
- Collaborative, innovative, results-oriented, highly organized
- Coachable, and willing to both learn and train
- Emotionally agile and able to be flexible, especially in times of growth and change
- Open to new approaches, medicines, and procedures
- Willing to submit to background check and drug screen
